This is actually quite a personal experience to me, having known someone who battled with depression before. I could still remember the time when he seemed to be falling apart that I could no longer hold him tight because he chose to slip away. So allow me to share that this book, Heart Grow Fonder, holds a dear part of me and I couldn’t stop the memories and my tears while reading it.

Tyler Cantrell had been living the life of the rich and famous, and he finally revealed his true nature through a video, together with his best friend, Jessica Bravo. Tyler is gay, yes, but he was still well-loved by people around him. And then there’s Jessica. Always hiding in the limelight. Until the freakin’ famous English actor Boyd Kerrington noticed her in the video.

Boyd & Jessica’s world collided. The very world that Jessica was trying to escape from was continuously chasing her. Boyd belongs to the stars, like Tyler does, but Jessica doesn’t want to be part of that. She is definitely broken and there isn’t much that Boyd could do to mend it.

Words cannot express what and how I truly felt for Jessica. She reminds me of my brother whenever he zones in to his world, not getting out of the box, not letting anyone in. I am thankful to Cristy Rey for sharing this story because it is very realistic; it delves deep into my heart and mind. It is one of the few books that really capture the innermost emotions of my heart.
