Princess Diaries Books 1-3

Title: Princess Diaries vol. 1
Author: Meg Cabot

Summary from Fantastic Fiction:

She's just a New York City girl living with her artist mom…

News flash: Dad is prince of Genovia. (So that's why a limo always meets her at the airport!)
Downer: Dad can't have any more kids. (So no heir to the throne.)
Shock of the century: Like it or not, Mia is prime princess material.
The worst part: Princess lessons from her dreaded grandmere, the dowager princess of Genovia, who thinks Mia has a thing or two to learn before she steps up to the throne.
Well, her father can lecture her until he's royal-blue in the face about her princessly duty no— way is she moving to Genovia and leaving Manhattan behind. But what's a girl to do when her name is PRINCESS AMELIA MIGNONETTE GRIMALDI THERMOPOLIS RENALDO?

I have always wanted to read this ever since I've watched the movie featuring Anne Hathaway and Mandy Moore. (Mia and Lana respectively) When I learned that it was based on a book and that it was a continuous book series, I vowed that one day I'm gonna collect them. and now, dream come true! I may not be a princess but now I have my own Kingdom of Books! yay! Princess Diaries is an interesting read. The transformation of Mia from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan may be a little cliche' but it was not excessively done here in the book, for Mia refuses to believe that she is indeed beautiful because of her gigantism and flat chests.

When Mia learned about her true heritage, she was in denial, primarily because she thought she would be called a freak in school - having a bodyguard in tow wherever she goes. Besides that, her bestfriend Lilly got mad at her because she did not support Lilly's campaign against a Deli that discriminates Asian people; aside from the fact that Lilly has a thing against monarchies. When New York finally learned about Princess Mia, a handsome senior student made the moves on her while Mia got all starry eyed with him. In the end, there was a kissing scene and a confrontation scene which brings back Mia & Lilly's friendship.

The book was altered heavily on the movie version - but I still love the book better. Definitely a nice read!

For the Second Book:
Title: Princess in the Spotlight
Volume 2

No one ever said being a princess was easy.
Just when Mia thought she had the whole Princess thing under control, things get out of hand, fast. First there's an unexpected announcement from her mother. Then Grandmère arranges a national primetime interview for the brand-new crown princess of Genovia. On top of that, intriguing, exasperating letters from a secret admirer begin to arrive.

Before she even has the chance to wonder who those letters are from, Mia is swept up in a whirlwind of royal intrigue the likes of which hasn't been seen since volume I of The Princess Diaries.
This volume is getting better and better. Won't you just love receiving love letters from a secret lover? In my younger years, I did receive anonymous love letters and I was in heaven! Especially when I learned that those came from the one I secretly had a crush on. But enough about me.

On Mia's case, she got a bad case of sore throat so she didn't go to school, but that didn't excuse her in her princess lessons. Oh, and there's Grandmere who was always urging Mia to give interviews to Hollywood reporters and the like. Maybe her sore throat was a perfect reason she could use to avoid that interview. But then, she started receiving love letters from an anonymous lover. Did the letters come from someone she's been eyeing on (Michael perhaps?) or is it from someone from her school? Whoever that was, it surely made Mia's swollen throat heal and soon she was back to school in no time. But will she ever discover whom the love letters came from?

and before I forget - Mia's Mom and Algebra teacher are getting married! Exciting!

Title: Princess In Love (Third Time Lucky)

Summary:
Princess Mia may seem like the luckiest girl ever.

But the truth is, Mia spends all her time doing one of three things: preparing for her nerve-racking entrée into Genovian society, slogging through the congestion unique to Manhattan in December, and avoiding further smooching from her hapless boyfriend, Kenny.

For Mia, being princess is not the fairy tale it's supposed to be . . . or is it?
This is, I believe, my favorite among Princess Diaries. It has all the ingredients needed for a delictable story. Comedy, a pint of drama, a small doze of action - Lana vs Mia! and an extra dose of romance.

Will Michael finally admit her feelings to Mia, or is it the other way around?

I suggest you read the whole series so you will also get starry-eyed like me!

For my bookmark rating, I give ALL of these Princess Diaries book - 4 Bookmarks - each!
