Goodbye Archie Andrews

The beloved iconic comic book character, Archie, will soon meet his fate in the upcoming series finale of Life with Archie. That's what New York Post is saying. Oh my!

I was astounded when I first learned about this. When I was a child, I used to collect Archie comics and magazines. My favorite comic book character was, of course, Archie Andrews and his lady love Betty Cooper. And who would forget the snobbish rich girl, billionaire heiress Veronica Lodge? I must say, I was quite fond of her even though she was quote irritating whenever she felt jealous of Betty. And Reggie Mantle, Archie's arch-rival, who always played pranks on Archie as well as on Jughead and Moose. I will surely miss him, too. And speaking of Jughead, heck, who would have thought he will end up with Midge? I'm sure Moose would bawl his eyes out.

For me, Archie is a Royalty. And learning that he is about to die ( to sacrifice his life for his friend) it means that his Kingdom is about to fall. And I am not happy about it. Sort of.

Well, I am not happy that Archie is going to die. Period. End of story.

But since the head honcho of Archie Comics Book said that Archie will die by saving somebody else, well, at least he will be remembered as a hero. I wouldn't want him to die any other way. I will mourn his death; I know I will.

John L. Goldwater, author of the Archie series of comic books, released a statement concerning the controversial move.

We've been building up to this moment since we launched ‘Life with Archie’ five years ago and knew that any book that was telling the story of Archie’s life as an adult had to also show his final moment. This story is going to inspire a wide range of reactions because we all feel so close to Archie. Fans will laugh, cry, jump off the edge of their seats and hopefully understand why this comic will go down as one of the most important moments in Archie’s entire history. It’s the biggest story we've ever done, and we’re supremely proud of it.
Ugh, I guess, it only goes to show that even iconic comic book characters can't live forever. There goes my childhood freckle-faced sweetheart.

Now, the mind-boggling question is:
Will Archie come back to life?
There's a very distinct possibility that this will happen.
After all, zombies are everywhere these days, aren't they?

  2. Nonsense! Life with Archie comics is just another alternate universe. Archie will still live on the upcoming Archie and Friends comics. Those two are different comic strips.
