silence, candles, and soul

In the silence of the heart God speaks. If you face God in prayer and silence, God will speak to you. Then you will know that you are nothing. It is only when you realize your nothingness, your emptiness, that God can fill you with Himself. Souls of prayer are souls of great silence.

— Mother Teresa (In the Heart of the World: Thoughts, Stories and Prayers)

I just want to reflect and say a prayer to one of the most pure souls I have met. Lola Corazon. No, she isn't my maternal nor paternal grandmother. She was my neighbor and we have been friends for years. I no longer have my own grandparents, so when I got to know her a few years back, I considered her my own.

Now, her battle with sickness and old age had come to an end. I have shed tears for her, not out of pity, but because of love. She had been one of the voices I love to hear whenever I have problems. She was someone who could easily put a smile on my face.

To you Lola Corazon, may you rest in peace and forever remember me like your own granddaughter. I love you po.

P.S.

Lola C,

A couple of midnights ago, I was crouched in front of my laptop, working and chatting with my boss, and then suddenly, I smelled scented candles all throughout my room. I knew that it was you. I knew that you were reminding me to take a rest and shut off my computer. Lola, thank you. Even in the darkest nights, you still showed me that you care for me. Di kita malilimutan, lola C.

Love
Claire
