Book Review: High Risk Love

I just read High Risk Love by Shannon Mayer and I was spellbound with this story.

This book is truly a wonderful read and I was inspired. The part where the main character, Jasmine, struggled to keep her feelings for Jet at bay struck me the most. I know the feeling of having doubts whether your feelings for the opposite sex is reciprocated or not, especially when that someone is afraid to love due to his past. Imagine how teary-eyed I got when Jasmine was clinging to her life when everyone else had left her (her parents & brother). I almost burst into tears when she saw Ryan on her deathbed. It was quite an emotional scene.

The first part of the book also made me grit my teeth. Jet, as a little boy received a lot of blows and insults from his own father. I swear, I wanted to clutch his father's throat because of that. He was so evil. The thing was, Jet couldn't do anything because he thought he was protecting his brother Jasper. But boy, was he so wrong about his thoughts.

This book opened my eyes to the reality of the world. It also made me realize that fate, trust and compassion in the family can conquer any trials. I highly recommend this book to everyone who either have issues with their family or significant others, or to those who just wanted to get a feel of how it is like to read a Shannon Mayer masterpiece. Two thumbs up!
