Miley Breaks Her Silence

Ever heard about "twerking?" Perhaps, you have seen someone doing that booty shake? I bet you do! Twerking is like the "it" thing nowadays in dancing. Even the celebrities are doing it!

At the recently concluded MTV Video Music Awards, former Hanna Montana child star Miley Cyrus had everyone's tongue
wagging with her raunchy performance. She did all that "booty shake, hip bounce, foam finger thingie and up & down back movements" in front of thousands of fans, with a married man (Robin Thicke) behind her. I myself gasped when I saw her "do her thing". I was like, "Oh my goodness, what kind of performance was that?"

Honestly, I used to think that Miley Cyrus was one of those singers who can really sing because she had powerful vocal chords. I even liked her song "The Climb" because it had meaning. But now, I can't help but think, "WHat happened to Hanna Montana?"

I am not a purist or anything like that, but as a mother of three boys, I wouldn't want my kids to think that doing those twerking movements and tongue wagging is cool, just because others are doing it. In our culture, celebrities or  the people in front of the camera should be considered as role models. They should set the right example to the younger generation.

In light of the recent event, Miley Cyrus have finally broke her silence and talked to the media for the first time about her performance with Robin Thicke. She said that she really intended to do all those stuffs to "make history happen in the VMA". She also said that she was only upholding MTV's tradition, much like the same way Britney Spears and Madonna had done in the previous years. And just like her song, people really can't stop talking about her and she liked it.

IF this was Miley’s take on “The Climb”, as her other song implied, then she better take a step back, climb down the stairs and contemplate. Because, seriously, I was not impressed, at all!

Clearly, Miley Cyrus has issues with herself. Last time I heard, her parents were divorcing. I'd like to think that this was taking a toll on her. I am just hoping that someone could shed her some light, intervene or tell her that she can still make history even without looking indecent or doing the "twerk". After all, making history is nothing if that kind of history will tarnish her reputation.

Miley may say that the viewers were "overthinking". Well, I'll say, she was not thinking at all. And please, put that tongue inside your mouth, just for once, okay?
