Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Moment

Finally! I was able to watch this movie!

Last night, Hubby and I decided to spend some time together while the kids were busy playing Dragon Ball Z on the computer. He let me choose the movie, so I got Beautiful Creatures playing on our DVD. It was cinematically engaging, the special effects were a sight to behold, and the story itself did not bore me nor my husband.

Beautiful Creatures stars the talented Emmy Rossum, my favorite "nanny" Emma Thompson, new actors Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert, and the amazing Jeremy Irons.

Truth to be told, the movie's mythology is complex and so refreshing after those infuriatingly famous Twilight installments. The film kicked off with Ethan dreaming of a lady who soon came to life when Lena (the girl of his dreams - really cheesy description if you ask me) arrived in South Carolina. Her car broke down, he came by and helped her go home, sparks flew, ex-girlfriend became enraged and the two love-birds fell in love. Problem was, Lena was a "sweet 16" witch or a "caster" who was about to be chosen by the moon - if she belonged to the Dark or to the light. Then enter the viscous cousin and mother of the witch, who would do anything to lead Lena to the Moon. All hell broke loose, including Ethan's memory. Will they still find their beautiful ending?

I was very pleased with the movie adaptation. It was a refreshing reprieve from age-old vampire shenanigans!  Because for the very first time, my hubby appreciated this movie I selected. He told me, "This movie is way better than Twilight. The characters were likeable, unlike those vampire-wolf shit.. If this is the kind of book you are reading lately, I would be glad to buy the sequel if you want."

Yip, yip, yipee!!! I am one lucky wife. Thanks Beautiful Creatures!
