RIP Cory Monteith
Cory Allan Michael Monteith (May 11, 1982 – July 13, 2013) was a Canadian actor and singer, known for his role as Finn Hudson on the Fox television series Glee from 2009 until his death in 2013. Born in Calgary and raised in Victoria, Monteith had a troubled adolescence involving substance abuse from age 13 onwards, and he left school at age 16. After an intervention by family and friends, he entered drug rehabilitation at age 19, and began rebuilding his life. In an interview with Parade magazine in 2011, he discussed his past history of substance abuse, and in April 2013 he again sought treatment for addiction. His body was found in a Vancouver hotel room in July 2013.
I was devastated when I learned about Cory's death yesterday. I got the news via a text message from a dear friend. I was screaming, "WHAT? No way!! No No No... " much to the astonishment of my whole family (my mom and sisters visited us this weekend to play with the kids). They actually thought I was getting crazy.
But really! When you hear news like that, you'll really go crazy, especially when you love the person who died. (Okay, I'm exaggerating, I don't love Cory Monteith, I just liked him..A LOT!)
Farewell Finn Hudson. Rachel Berry is grieving, and so am I, and the rest of your Glee fans. May you rest in peace.
