letting go...
A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend. ~Author UnknownA book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy. ~Edward P. Morgan
I was cleaning and de-cluttering some stuffs this morning, including books. I thought I'd rather donate some of my well-loved books to the local library or wrap the others as gifts to my friends, or maybe sell them.
But upon seeing my collection of hard-bounds and paperbacks, I just can't seem to let go. A part of me wants to just close the box and store the books there for as long as I want. I love to smell the pages of the books, to feel the soft and smooth texture of the covers, to experience the actual turning of pages. I simply love the feeling of being surrounded by books for their shape, the way they feel in my hand, and the knowledge literally at my fingertips. True, I love my books (all hundreds of them) and I have over 300 e-books on my Kindle. But there is only so little space in my house so the others would just have to go. Now, I'm wrapping some of my Mills and Boon classics, Silhouettes, Michael Palmers, Danielle Steels and Debbie McCombers.. Hopefully, you'll be in good hands the next time I see you.
