mosquito trap

Dengue is definitely turning into an epidemia.. i wonder why the officials haven't declared state of calamity in our country when it has already taken lives! the hospitals and health centers are already packed and swarmed up.. it's just so depressing to see lots of kids with tubes on their mouths or hands and crying.. :(

i pondered upon this and thought of researching for some ways to prevent this mosquitos from attacking us, aside from pouring on Off lotion, using Baygon Electric mosquito repelants and coils. and i was able to see this helpful tip from an extraordinary wordpress blogger - who shared about mosquito traps. to quote her:

It is just a mix of water, brown sugar and yeast.
1. Cut a plastic bottle in half, keep both parts. Can be Coca Cola / Pepsi bottle.
2. Take the lower portion of the bottle. Dissolve the brown sugar in hot water. Let it cool down to ~70 deg F.
3. Add the yeast. Carbon dioxide will form (This will attract the mosquitoes)
4. Cover the bottle with a dark wrap and place the top portion upside down like a funnel. Place it in a corner in your house.
5. In 2 weeks you will be surprised by the number of mosquitoes killed.
