GT: I Love Me: Mentally

random thoughts always walk on my mind.. when the going gets tough, oftentimes, i just breathe in, roll my eyes, close them & exhale (in that order) so i can free my mind from obstructions.. mentally, i'm stable & fine.. just dont pressure me into doing something i dont want, or else, i'll blow up...

this is my first try to join & submit an entry for Girls Talk or G.T. .. and let me tell you something about how i became somewhat Mentally Active..

looking back, i dont wanna brag but i actually performed well in academics since grade school.. my mom would always boast me to her friends coz i've been a consistent First Honor from 1st grade till Grade 6.. my school always got awards & trophies when i became Top 1 or 2 on Quiz Bees & other school competitions - (either regional or National).. i even got the chance to get accelerated from Grade 5 to Grade 6, but i turned down the offer because i refused to let go of my friends and i didn't want to get intimidated if i get transfered to the higher level.. i already knew the consequences if i got one step ahead - i'd get all the pressures in the world!

things changed a little when i reached High School.. since there were more students to compete with, i had to burn the midnight oil every night to make sure i'd still stay on Top.. in the end, i settled for 2nd Honors because my competitor was really witty.. there were times i outwitted her, but in the long run, we became best of friends.. we were separated when we went to different colleges after 4 years..

all these years, people expected much from me because they thought i was like SuperWoman who could do anything.. sometimes, i blame my mom for forcing me to get to the top because i've always felt pressured.. if i made a mistake, i had to go on great lengths to do damage control.. it blew up my mind.. seriously..

and now i am a career-woman and a mom.. at work, i try my best to still indulge in the latest about technology, current events, literature & anything i can find on the Internet to keep my mind working and still learn more so i would not be left behind with the world..

as a mom, i strive hard to teach my children & instill in them the values of being a good student.. my Kyle is showing progress in school, but i am NOT demanding much from him.. i know better that if i force him to speed up, i would be just like my mom and other moms who expected much from their kids without thinking about their EQ - emotional quotient.. so i let him enjoy school, let him read his books & do his homework, let him bask under the sun with his friends during "Soccer Day" or P.E. day - no pressures at all..

so there you go, my first entry for
