indulging myself

one gloomy Tuesday afternoon, after a scornful announcement from our boss that we are on a half-day schedule, Marina & Jane & I (the Powerpuffs - as we fondly call ourselves) decided to indulge on a "me & myself time" at our favorite hang-out.. SM City Clark!

our Buttercup girl, the expectant mom - Jane, scouted for some maternity dress so she can be herself at the office.. (lately, she's been complaining that she can't breathe properly with her jeans & shirts)... but we've toured the dress shops but still, she cant' decide which one to wear.. for her kasi, she'd look more "punggok" if she'll resort to leggings and flowy tops.. at the end of the day, jane wasn't able to buy any maternity clothes at all.. tsk..tsk..

it was about 2:30 pm when Mhai and I headed to National Bookstore.. imagine us lurking behind the books, silently browsing the pages of our favorite books. i was at the green corner, wearing a black & white halter/slacks combo, sitting beside a mini-doctor's bag, surrounded by Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens & Alice in Wonderland - my hands clasped around Nora Roberts' Vision of White novel..

and across the aisle, at the red corner, wearing a purple top & blue denim pants, standing tall at 5", flanked by Neil Gaiman, Scott Fitzgerald & J.R.R. Tolkien - Mhai had Nicholas Sparks "The Last Song" in her hands...

at that place & time, mhai and i belonged to our own worlds - hers on the beach with Ronnie & Will, while I was with Mackenzie & her circle of friends - and we remained oblivious to our surroundings for the next couple of hours.. we just ignored the staffs who were passing by the aisles, but we threw quick glances to each other when one of us sigh or laugh or or sniff or giggle - out of nowhere.. yes, that's how we are when we get bewitched by the books that we are reading - we just let our emotions take control and we're not afraid to show how we feel..

and when hunger striked, i got myself a cup of hot coffee while Mhai sipped a cool glass of fruit juice and shared Cheezy beef franks at the Foodcourt.. when our tummies behaved accordingly, we went back to the bookstore and continued our journey through the pages and to the other parts of the world..

ahhh.. i wish we can have another half-day schedule today so we could back to our favorite spot and let our imaginations wander again - at the bookstore..
