meet my daughter - Miki

me? already have a daughter?

naahh.. but i feel like i already have one..

and her name is Miki.. my adopted daughter..

Miki is my neighbor's daughter. her momma Carol went to Singapore last July and she asked me and my cousin, Coleen to take care of her while she's gone, working in the Lion City, Singa Pura.

Miki is about 12 years of age. what i love about her is her smile & sweetness.. she's so sweet in the sense that she never fails to show her affection to me and to my kids. yes, she treats my sons as if they were her real siblings. she even calls me Mommy and she always kisses me and say, "Yehey, Mommy is here" whenever i arrive home.

^ that''s Miki with my bunso - Kian.. ^

since i already have my hands full with my two sons, sometimes, i fail to check up on her. that's when my cousin Coleen, comes in the picture. Coleen sleeps with her at their house and she cooks breakfast & lunch for her. but at night time, i see to it that we are all gathered together in our dining table and eat supper. and when needs help with her homework, she would approach me and i would gladly assist her.

however, there are times, too when i get mad at her because she doesn't want to eat or do her assignments.. all she likes doing is texting & watching tv... sometimes, she goes to her classmates' house and will return late in the evening. that should not be a problem for me, but what concerns is her mom. what if her mom Carol hears stories that her daughter is seen on another place during a school night? definitely, the blame would be on me.

so what i do is i tell her that i'm gonna tell her mom about her mischiefs.. and then she would stay in one corner and say sorry. amidst all this, i never spanked nor lay a finger on her. i'm just her guardian and i definitely know my limit with her..

yesterday, while i was busy tending to my youngest son's playpen, Miki approached me and handed me a small brown envelope. i asked her what it was for.. then she said, "Open it Mommy.."

and there it was.. her school report card! and i was amazed to see her grades for her first grading period. she got 92 in her Science subject and the lowest grade she had was 89 for Math which is not bad..she told me to sign her report card not only because I am her guardian but because she sees me as a real mother who helped her with her homework and because I was there to discipline her ...

ahhh.. such sweet words to my ears.. she may not be my real daughter but she treats me like I am her own Mom.. thank you so much Miki for making me happy. now i know how it feels to have a school child.

keep up the guidance and care. mabuhay ka!
