who's cookin'?

To start, let me just state the fact that I am not really a viewer of American Idol (or AI). i never watched a single /entire episode of THIS season’s talent search. I just heard from my colleagues about the 2 Davids and Ramielle (of course, she was every Pinoy's bet)..

But I was able to watch one season years ago. I think that was during Daughtry, Taylor and McPhee's season, where I initially rooted for Chris, then switched to Kath, but then she lost to Mr. Salt & Pepper (read: Taylor's hairdo!) on the Final's night. That was the only time I was feeling giddy and excited.

This season, I heard a lot of buzz about the contestants. My officemates, Rizza & Marina, sometimes talk about Archuleta & Cook. One time, when I visited my mom-in-law, I saw her sitting pretty in front of the boob tube, saying, her favorite David was next to perform. I would only smile at her and proceed to what I was doing. Then after a few minutes, I would hear her either arguing with my dad-in-law or with Simon if she heard a snide remark from the over-bearing judge.

But yesterday, amidst all the clamor and chaos in the office, I heard my cellphone tweet and read, "hey sis, check Am Idol - David won!!"

i asked myself, which David? Suddenly I got curious & interested and I browsed YouTube to see the winner.. yeah, I know it's too late to get involved with this hype, but hey, better late than never, right?

So during meal-break, I finally watched AI. I finally saw the two Davids vying for the top spot.. I finally understood why most girls (& gays) went ga-ga over rockstar Cook.. I finally understood why some ladies crooned for baby-face Archuleta. Hmm. They were indeed great singers!

Congratulations, David Cook! Marina's right! You ARE one hot cookie!
