fire drill 101

an hour ago, here in the office, we just had our Fire Drill. we've been informed by one of the HR people that the said fire drill will be conducted in a few minutes. knowing this, i immediately made sure i finished sending my e-mail to one of my peers and locked my PC.

when the fire alarm sounded, my office mates slowly made their way towards the Fire Exit.. yes, we were slow... in my mind, we were thinking, "why rush? this isn't the real thing.." hehehe.."mga pasaway kami!"

i didn't know that the Embarq peeps were the only ones required to evacuate.. i thought the Sprint people will join us, but when i looked at them, they just ignored the high-pitched siren and continued with their calls.

in about 2 minutes, everyone else were at the lawn area except me, who was briskly walking down the stairs.. yeah, i was having my graceful exit.. hahaha.. i'm sooo bad, i know!

actually, the only thing (or things) that kept me from walking so fast are my short skirt, flowing empire-cut tube blouse & high heels.. argh!! yes, you can throw stones at me for wearing this kind of outfit in the office.. hehehe..

anyway, to continue with my story, the Fire Marshal instructed all of us to find a pair and grab the fire extinguishers in front of us and put the fire out (of the big grill pan which large flames). since there were only 8 fire extinguishers, only 4 pairs were able to pull the pins and aimed the extinguisher nozzles at the base of the flame.

the rest of us, of course, stood by the corner and waited for the other to finish.. yes, we were mere spectators..

after the fire drill, the Fire Marshall scolded us for being so relaxed and unmindful of the Fire Alarm.. He said, we should have moved swift because that's how it was going to be when there's real fire. He even mentioned that he saw some people walking down the stairs as if they were models walking down the ramp..

*sigh*

i bit my lip and softly whispered to my buddy, "tsk.. i'm guilty as charged"...

yes, i know, this is a serious matter. Fire Drills are important.. it must be done so that we all know what to do when there's a real fire.. as i sit down in fornt of my PC, i realize i behaved like a smart alec not concerned with my life and my family.. i was really a fool for being such an ass during the evacuation..

oh well, i know everyone else were like me, who ignored the Fire Marshal's advice but believe me, i know better now.. i have to take this drill seriously even if there's a "false fire" because you never know what might happen next.. at this time, all i think about now is my life and my kids..

they're reason enough for me to pull myself together and be a role model to them...

that's all for now, folks!

happy weekend everyone!

see you all in Monday :)
