of earthquakes and heavy rains...

exactly 11:27am today, in Clark Angeles, a tremor was felt within the confines of our office. it was probably estimated to be intensity 2 by the Ritcher Scale, and lasted for about 4 - 5 seconds..
according to PHIVOLCS (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ) "The quake's epicenter was out at sea and not on land.
naturally, i was shocked.. i dared not move after i felt the earth stirred a bit. i thought there would be an aftershock. i saw the name plates of most of our supervisors dangle in the air when the earth moved.. i uttered a small prayer when i regained composure..
now, exactly 2:40pm, a lightning struck and a loud thunder echoed in the heavens.. i immediately got up from my seat upon hearing the loud rumble.. i then sensed the heavy rainfall from outside while i am here inside my cubicle.. i wonder, has the "low pressure area" that was cited southwest of Luzon developed to a storm now?
geee, i can see flood everywhere any moment now..
amidst these natural phenomenons, i'd like to think that these aren't the effects of the Global Warming that our beloved planet is having. yes, Global Warming is currently the earth's disease.. according to Wikipedia, our Mother Earth has been showing signs of increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.
wonder what are the possible effects of global warming? well, it all sums up to food shortages, more hurricanes, more wildfires, severe flooding, extreme rains, tremors and more.. tsk tsk tsk.. it's so sad that we may be experiencing these phenomenas now.. yes, we may not be able to stop global warming (or Global Cooling, as what the other's say), but i believe we can do our share to help slow it down.
like for example, saving electricity.. Kudos to my company for thinking about this tip.. just a month ago, a resolution has been passed in our office about conserving energy (turning off the lights, computers and other machines when not in use).
another tip: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. reducing our garbage will help reduce the CO2 emissions..(CO2 = carbon dioxide, remember Chemistry? one of my fave subjects!) furthermore, recycling or reusing some of our household things will help save you time and energy and money as well!
plant more trees! yes, by cultivating the seeds on our earth's soil, we will not only decrease the floods and beautify our surroundings, the plants would also be responsible inhaling the CO2 that we're exhaling! isn't that great?
let's also conserve water! (how, by taking a bath together!) LOL... let's stop the leaks in our pipes and drainage systems, and use used water
by the way, this is not a sponsored post, nor an entry to an Essay Writing contest or whatever.. i just need to vent out my feelings towards the global events that have been happening on Earth.. i just want to share something and hopefully make a difference.. let's all learn to love our own land..
Amen..
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
this has been Claire Santos, representing the wonderful and industrious ecozone in Clarkfield, Pampanga!
i thank you..
bow :)
