kiddie summer memories

How did you spend summers when you were a kid?

yeah, i know.. it's already the rainy season.. typhoon Bebeng just passed by our Philippine Area of Responsibility, causing flash floods in Gen San and heavy downpour all over the acrhipelago. {wow, para akong Weather News reporter, hahaha!}

this made me miss the summer sun..

when i was a kid, i usually spend it at our backyard.. my cousins and neighbors would flock and play kiddie games.. madalas naming laro noon ang Patintero, Langit-Lupa-Impyerno, Teks, Taguan Pung, Chinese Garter, bahay-bahayan, luto-lutuan, Jack-Stones, Sungka-an at syempre, ang paborito kong lastiko game na ay-lab-yu-maricel..

pag sinabihan ako ng "claire, mag-ay-lab-yu- tayo," kukunin ko na ang mga goma ko nakatirintas, sabay kakanta ng:

Ay Lab Yu, Maricel, Maricel
Dina Bonabi, Es-Nooki,
Sharon Sharon Lab Gabby!

do you still remember that song? .. hehehe.. i know you do..

minsan naman, we would climb the trees - we have santol, mango, aratiles and sampaloc trees at that time.. i was often teased and called "orange" - short for oranggutan because of my constant climbing of trees.. and eating banana on top.. hahaha... buti na lang, no one calls me that anymore.

we also had a pond, about 500 meters away from our house.. ang palaisdaan dun sa amin, magkakasunod.. ang kabuhayan kasi dun ay pangingisda.. dun ako natutong manghuli ng bangus at tilapia at alimango.. may maliit na kubo kmi doon kung saan nagpapahinga yung mga mangingisda.. minsan, kmi ng mga pinsan ko, nagtatago dun pag ayaw naming mautusan ng mga magulang namin.. ahihihi..

ahh.. syempre, pag summer, merong beach!

lucky for us because our house is just near the Lingayen Gulf.. every now and then, my family would spend afternoons there, frolicking with the fish & the waves.. wala pang masyadong mga bamboo cottages noon.. di pa super dumi ang dagat.. masarap lumangoy kasama ang mga kaibigan...

haaayy... nakakamiss talaga! sana, maging bata ako ulit :)
