a special family day

early this morning, at approximately 4:30 A.M., i got up to get ready for work.. i wondered why my alarm did not go off... i was still half-asleep, pouring out hot water on my cholocate drink when my mom suddenly appeared and slapped my butt and said, "why are you up so early?".. it's only then when i realize that i'm on a whole day leave for today.. whew!

yep, i decided to take a leave of absence at work so i can get in touch with myself and spend some quality time with my son.. lately, i noticed that my son cries when i approach him.. and when i see him cuddling my mom or his yaya, i feel a little jealous.. mom said, it's because he never sees me when he wakes up in the morning and when he eats his meals...

so today, i told my baby kyle at breakfast that we're gonna have a date.. i'm gonna take him out shopping and we're gonna sleep together after lunch time and i'm gonna teach him new tricks...

and so far, everything's going great!

i bathe kyle and played with him at his baby bath tub this morning.. it made my heart flutter when he slammed and splashed water all over me and then laughed so hard.. he looked so cute!

after our "bathing session" i cradled him in my arms while seated on our love-couch.. (as i can no longer stand up while carrying him because my belly hurts) i was tickling his chin and pinching his nose when he suddenly said, "mummy!" it's his first time that he called me "mummy".. since he was used to saying "mama" before.. (i don't want to be called mama coz that's what my mother-in-law prefers to be called.. so when i hear him say mama, he doesn't really pertain to me but to his grandmom)

i was such in a good mood when i finally heard him say mummy... yes, that was music to my ears!! i lovingly kissed his cheeks when he repeated those words.. ahhhh.. the pleasure of being a mom!!!

late in the afternoon, when his daddy woke up, we decided to go shopping.. so i grabbed Kyle's handsome suit, dressed him up and made sure that he looked really gorgeous. we went to a nearby mall and shopped for some items.. kyle was really happy when marc put him on a kiddle push cart and enjoyed every minute of it!

when we passed by the Home Decors area, i noticed Marc eyeing the tall christmas tree on display... i murmured to myself, "i wish we could have a christmas tree this year at our house".. (i said this because the last two years, since we got our own house, marc didn't want any xmas decor at home because he said his family won't approve of the ornaments... his family, being Adventists, do not actually celebrate xmas, so there was no reason for them to "deck their halls")..

anyway, it really took me by surprise when he suddenly told me that he wants to buy the 4 feet tall Christmas Tree.. i said, "are you sure?" and he casually said, "yes of course! kyle would really love it! besides, i really want to feel the christmas spirit, now that i have my own family.. di ba masaya yun?" and then he took kyle at the xmas booth and bought all the items needed for our xmas tree - like christmas balls, angels, poinsettia, stars, silver linings, santa heads and xmas alphabets.. if you could only see how enthusiastic marc & Kyle were when they carefully chose the xmas items! there was a glow in marc's eyes! my heart melted like chocolate when i saw that scene.. awww...

when we got home at 6pm, marc was really excited setting up the xmas pine tree.. i told him to wait until morning so we could eat our dinner first, but he said, "bakit bukas pa, eh pwede naman ngayon.. tingnan mo si kyle, oh, tuwang tuwa sa xmas ball.."

and there was kyle! grinning from ear to ear while looking at the big green christmas ball (which looked more like a disco ball to me, hehehe).. so i joined them in decorating and decking our halls, and soon, an hour later, we were finished.. i suddenly felt warm while looking at our masterpiece.. it was magnificent!

truly, this day had been full of surprises! and i'm so glad to have filed a leave for this day.. thanks God!
